Women’s struggles in the streets change you. My boyfriend was a real feminist – in theory, but not in practice. I learned about feminism from him theoretically, but I practiced it myself. When I afterwards looked at the theory from my practice point of view, I understood “I had already been a feminist”.

We first formed the Women’s Platform for Peace in Ankara. We had a great influence on each other on that platform. Women who would not meet on other occasions came together on that platform, we came into contact, we understood each other, and were involved in women’s struggle. We learned a lot from each other.
