 We were a few people in the beginning; then we were thousands … When we were carrying out union work we would integrate women’s work, too. We laid the grounds for the organisation of women. Men, yes, would react to us. We set our minds not to be crushed: “We will not be crushed, we will not be intimidated, we will stand on our feet, we will not need anyone. Indeed, right now, we have friends who stand on their own feet, work and lead their lives without being under the protection of any man. Mostly those women continued to take part in the union.
